SPATIAL DESIGN FOR LIVING

Construction Period: Approx. 4 months
The Brief:
This two-bedroom apartment is home to a couple and their young son. The original layout suffered from insufficient storage, scattered belongings, and the lack of a comfortable and fully functional large computer work area. Through custom-built carpentry and multi-functional space planning, the design team reorganised the circulation, storage, and spatial hierarchy to create a modern home that feels neat, efficient, and visually cohesive within a compact footprint.

Spatial Design Strategies
A full-wall custom cabinetry system forms the core of the living and dining area. Finished in light wood veneer, it extends across the TV wall and study zone to establish a unified visual language. Within this integrated millwork composition, the TV cabinet, bookshelves, display niches, and work desk are combined into one cohesive furniture system, making the layout both practical and streamlined.
The balance between open shelving and closed-door storage was carefully considered. Upper cabinets conceal less frequently used items, while open niches display books, decorative objects, and media equipment, adding rhythm and depth. By placing the TV zone and home office side by side, the living area supports both entertainment and remote work, directly responding to the owner’s need for a large computer desk. The desk features a deeper worktop and an ergonomic chair for long hours of use, while handle-free cabinetry and hidden storage maintain a clean, uncluttered appearance.
