SPATIAL DESIGN FOR LIVING
District: Kennedy Town, Hong Kong
Square Footage: 639 square feet
Property Features: 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, open kitchen and home office.
Remodeling Budget: Approximately HKD 820K (all materials and labor)
Construction Time: Approximately 4 months
The Brief:
This two-bedroom apartment is home to a couple and their teenage son. Both father and son enjoy video gaming and wanted a comfortable living room where they could play together and spend family time.
The original living and dining area was long and narrow with limited storage, often feeling cluttered as gaming equipment and household items increased. Through a modern wood minimalist design with custom cabinetry and thoughtful space planning, the apartment was transformed into a warm and functional home with a dedicated family gaming space.

Spatial Design Strategies
The living and dining room adopts a Modern Wood Minimalism style, using light wood tones and vertical elements to create a warm and organized environment. A full-height wood slat TV wall visually extends the ceiling height and becomes the focal point of the space.
A floating TV cabinet reduces visual heaviness while allowing easier cleaning and robot vacuum access. On the adjacent wall, a full-height concealed cabinet integrates with the wooden finish, providing hidden storage and keeping the space neat.
Lighting combines track lights with indirect LED strips to create both functional illumination and a warm atmosphere.
The dining area continues the same wood-toned language. A round dining table improves circulation in the compact layout, while a custom dining cabinet with display and concealed storage integrates daily items naturally into the living space.
